Georgia Tiarra Willow's Interview on The Selena Slamour Show: How The Actress is making an empowering impact on the Film Industry

Do you remember watching your favorite TV show or movie, and being fascinated by one particular character of the show ? Selena Gomez Selena Gomez Selena Gomez

Well I do!

I'm sure that everyone of us out there can relate to a characters' story or personality - and if not, well then... get ready to meet the actress who is able to embody characters that go beyong the scope.

The 19 Year-Old Actress Georgia Tiarra Willow began her acting career at the age of seven and already starred in many projects alongside well known actors such as Gregg Sulkin, Justin Bieber and AnnaLynne McCord.

I got the chance to sit down with Tiarra to talk about her amazing career path, everything acting and celebrate the release day of my show ''The Selena Slamour Show''.

Check out the video-Interview we did on my YouTube channel, grab a snack or drink - and let's dive into the amazing conversation with Tiarra!

First of all - thank you so much for taking your time Tiarra! I've been working on this project for the last couple of months. You perfectly represent what the show is about, so I am incredibly happy to be starting this off with you!

Of course! Thank you for having me, I am so excited to be here.

How are you dealing with the global crisis that is affecting all of us right now? I mean as a professional as well as an actress born and raised in Los Angeles, how do you cope with going to auditions ? I personally always used to go to auditions before quarantine, but now I only get mails from directors asking me if I want to audition for a certain role- and I'm like 'Of course I want to! But on the other hand... we are in the middle of a pandemic'. So how do you deal with the current situation ?

I totally know what you mean. I always used to film self-tapes ( even before quarantine ) and sent them over to my agent/ casting-director. So I guess I'm kind of used to it. But there are a lot of productions which are currently paused. I am not sure when those productions will continue to film their shows and movies again, but I am sure that being on set - after this crisis hopefully ends - is going to be a lot safer and more health-conscious than it used to be.

And how exactly did you get your start as an actress in the entertainment industry? I mean you've been acting since you were seven!

My mom and I used to spent a lot of time around studio lots in L.A., for example the Warner Bros. or Universal Studios. That's when I started going to preschool on the Paramount Pictures Studio Lot and knew that I wanted to become an actress. I became obsessed with acting as well as everything that is put into filmmaking, and I believe that this is my calling.

What is the process of auditioning like? Do you sometimes see the same faces in different audition rooms?

Auditioning is for sure a lot of fun! My agent usually sends me the script of the role I want to audition for. Often times it's just a part of the screenplay and a few lines which I then memorise. I am actually really bad at memorising things but when it comes to scripts.. I truly don't know why, but I just perfectly have it on my mind the next day...

I know what you're talking about! It's probably because you're so focused on and excited about the audition..

Exactly! But at the same time it's just so important that you enjoy the process and don't really get stressed out. The audition room can sometimes feel like a really toxic place, especially when you get anxious or too excited due to long waiting times. There will even be sitting someone who works on the project you're auditioning for secretly, e.g. the casting director/ the director him-/herself - but that only happens now and then. And yes, there have been many moments in which I've seen the same faces in audition rooms. I have often met my friends who are in the entertainment industry as well, or even really famous actors! When I go to auditons now, I don't see many actors coming in with their parents since I've grown up. I only do when I get to audition for younger roles..

A lot of people have also told me that I look younger than my actual age, but I have to say: It can be really beneficial for many actors/ actresses out there. I mean you have such a wide play range and will be able to play characters from, let's say.. 15 to 25!

That's definetely true!! And it's a matter of learning how to be grateful for your opportunities in the first place. There are lots of moments where I have to take a second and be like - okay, maybe I'm not booking things, but you just audition for lots of big projects that people would die to be auditioning for! Everyone has to start somewhere and keep going. It's just a matter of time, so don't put into your head that 'I'm gonna be the star of Harry Potter tomorrow'. You definetely want to manifest that for yourself and have dreams, but you don't want to disappoint yourself.

Do you personally think that it's necessary to have an agent/ manager OR even move to Los Angeles to go to auditons and become an actor/ actress ?

No, I don't really think so. I mean L.A. is a great place to meet new people and go to auditions, but we have the internet nowadays-

And Social Media..

Yeah exactly! And there are so many websites you can look up to find auditions. So I don't think that having an agent or manager is essential to make it into the Industry. But it's a great way to start!

Are you signed in with a management or an agency?

Yes, I am with ''Industry Entertainment'' for management and ''Coast to Coast Talent Group'' for my agency!

You were born and raised in Los Angeles. Do you think that L.A. can be a harsh place for people starting out sometimes?

I personally love L.A. with all of my heart and hope to raise my own little family here one day. The vast majority who live here aren't actually people who were born in Los Angeles, but rather people from other countries who want to pursue acting. I just think that you should treat people the way you want to be treated. You should be kind and respectful, and that's really all that matters. Many people just have a wrong perception of L.A. and behave as if they have to be someone they actually aren't. And we're just like - 'What are you doing? You don't have to be like that', people in LA are actually... normal, haha! I mean you never know who you're going to meet along the way, so just be nice to people.

I love that! You have been on so many projects, I mean you've been on
ABC's drama ''For The People'' - Comedy Centrals ''Another Period'' ( as Virgin ) - MTV's ''Faking It'' ( as Becca ) - ''The Missing Sister'' ( playing Raven ) - ''The Muppets'' - ''Lost Girls: Angie's Story'' ( as Mia ) - ''Milkshake Girls'' ( as Stella ) - ''For The People'' ( as Petra ) - ''Pinky'' ( as Tina ) the list goes on! And met as well as worked alongside actors such as Gregg Sulkin, Chloe East or James Maslow! What is your favorite project you've worked on so far?

Oh gosh, that's a difficult question. I feel like I truly enjoyed every set I've been on. I don't think I have one bad experience. Everyone is always so sweet and kind and professional. There are lots of TV shows I've been on where they were actors who I looked up to, like Gregg Sulkin - I was like 'Oh my God, I LOVED you when I was like seven!'. And there are lots of projects that I've worked on that have like a really deep meaning behind it. And I think those are the most life-changing projects ( e.g. working on Milkshake Girls ).

Are you currently working on any upcoming projects?

Yes, I am working on the feature film ''Lost Girls'' which should be coming out either this or next year.

Don't you think that going to events after shooting a movie ( especially like the feature films ''Milkshake Girls'' and ''Lost Girls'' which bring awareness to many people ) is kind of releasing ?

It's really nice. It's having like a time where, you know, there's a good amount of time between seeing each other and seeing what we've done and what we've accomplished. Actors don't really get the chance to see the work that they've done before it's on air or released. We don't see it really far in advance as everyone else/ the audience. So it's really nice to celebrate the work we've done with our castmates and everything like that.

''Faking It'' was amazing because I was just a co-star on that show, I was on one episode, and everyone was so amazing. I think I was one of the youngest actors to be on that show. Most of them were pretty old, you know, like in their 20's or 30's. But everyone was so sweet! Usually for like co-stars, they don't really treat you as part of the cast. But for the season 3 they send me gifts e.g. a sweatshirt with the season three thing or notes like 'Thank you so much for being a part of the show...'. That was amazing! I mean everyone a part of that show was SO kind and sweet and very professional. I had a blast working on ''Faking It'' and being appreciated - like feeling a part of what I had done was really really sweet.

There're definetely times where the premieres and stuff are so amazing! I mean you're obviously a little nervous because you usually haven't seen it and don't know what it's like or how people are going to react. It's like this 'Butterfly Situation' where you don't know how everyone is going to react to what you or your castmates have created. So it's nerve-racking, it can be, but it's usually exciting.

How was your first red carpet excperience ? I have seen you on the YSBnow red carpet and I have to say that you looked like a princess!

Oh thank you, thank you! My first red carpet experience I believe was when I was in the Justin Bieber movie..

Really??

Yes! I was really young and in his film ''Never Say Never'' for a minute. He was like singing or something and wanted a bunch of fans to like lip-sync to one of his songs- so I was in his movie for a minute. We got to go to the premiere and my sister and I were both in it. That was really fun! We were in Tutus, like we were really little- it was cute, it was sweet.

How did you get into Justin Bieber's film?

Justin Bieber's production company was at Paramount Pictures, and we send a letter to the director of the production company 'cause we LOVED Justin Bieber in that moment. We were like 'Oh my gosh, it's so cool what you guys are doing!...', there was just glitter everywhere you know. And they thought we were the funniest cutest little things, so they were like 'Hey we'd love to have you in the film!'.  That was really fun and sweet. It's a cool opportunity and it's funny to bring it up to people.

That is amazing!

Yeah! But I think the first real red carpet experience where I was a part of the film and one of the main cast members was a short film that I did. It was at a festival and I remember being SO excited because I had never seen the film and I genuinely loved filming it! It was a really cool and beautiful film. It was very magical and fantastical. I loved seeing it, talking about the film- I was young still. I think I was like nine or ten, so they were asking me questions after it and I thought that was like the coolest thing in the entire world! Being a part of festivals is really an interesting experience. Most of the festivals I've been a part of they do interviews or... what is it called.. where they line up the cast and they basically just ask them questions about the film and how it was filming it or behind the scenes information afterwards. I always loved those. I always loved talking about my crew members and my castmates.

I think that's the most fun thing to do!

Right!? I find it really interesting to talk about them and everyone always wants to know. Even me as an audience member I always want to know when on during set like 'who is funny with doing this..who is like responsible for doing this..'....

Or even pranking each other on set...

Yeah! Exactly. It's really interesting for an audience member so I always like being a part of it when I'm a cast member 'cause I think it's one of the more fun things for the audience to get to know and have this little 'must'-behind the scenes information. You feel a part of it as well, you know.

Do you get invited to those events because you have been a part of the movie ?

For my films or anything like that they invite all the cast members. But last summer I had a publicist ( just for the summer ) and that's where you probably saw all those different events, which I was really grateful to have had for that summer. It was really fun and really cool to meet all those people. But, yeah, to do something like that -  to constantly be going to events or just be in that world, you usually need someone like a publicist. That's a whole seperate world than just acting, to be going to events like that - it's a whole nother ball game. If that's what your goal is, to be doing that kind of 'Internet famous type situation' and going to red carpets, then a publicist is definitely something you maybe want to invest in. A publicist is what will really help you, but they're expensive. I don't think it's necessary. If you make friends with a certain group then you'll be invited to things like that all the time, e.g. the Tik Tok community has like their own little events all the time and everyone from there is invited to stuff like that. I think that as you grow as an actor or as you get more recognisable you'll be invited to stuff like that.

Are you currently working on any upcoming projects?

For sure, I have the newest feature film coming out soon which got accepted to a couple of festivals, which we're really excited about! That's my most recent project that's coming out.

And I've heard that you're studying directing? You got to let me know when you have you first film one day!

Yeah, for sure - I will! I took directing last quarter online at the film school that I'm going to and we had to film things with our iPhone. That was a cool experience. I love learning about everything and I have to take the one in everything, so I have to take a screenwriting one and directing one and producing one, which is so fascinating to me. I mean I've know and grown up with it, but I could never knew how much work and effort is put into each role. So it gains me a sense of respect for each person that's on set, which is really cool...
